Pølse

Here are some pics I just took of Ada.

Ada Pølse

There is another bulldog just by where we live, and her name is Pølse. “Pølse” means “sausage”. The above image gives a really good idea of why you’d think of naming a bulldog that. She looks like the worm in Dune. Albeit cuter, and with more snot.

Ada Floppy

Ada lying on her back. Bullies are such mutants. They do this a lot. being so round, they can do this more easily than most dogs with thoraces that are more elliptical in cross-section.

Y’all’re gettin’ into some seriously deep shit.

Forberedes på høy bensinpris - Aftenposten.no

For those who don’t read Norwegian, the article talks about how the gas prices in the US have increased 25% in the mast month, and supposedly the oil producers won’t be able to meet demands for another three to four years. It’s like, what, around 3 bucks a gallon there many places now? I wonder how bad it will have to get for Americans to change their gluttonous ways. The sad thing is that that the majority of the country was designed around the assumption that gas would always be in cheap, plentiful supply. So even if most Americans want to change, they won’t be able to. Ever try, say, walking to your local grocery store to do your shopping? You probably haven’t, because it’s completely unfeasible. My local grocery store is two minutes’ walk down the street, and there’s an ethnic store selling beautiful veggies right across the street from our building. This is what makes it possible for us not to own a car.

So, Americans are going to suffer in one way or another, and it ain’t gonna be pretty. It’s us here in Norway who will reap the benefits in the form of an increase of eight million dollars in next year’s budget. Now I’m wondering about the rationalizations that will have to take place in Americans’ minds in order to allow them to get behind attacking Norway.

Sorry about the mess.

OK, I’ve finally got my blog back up and running, as should be obvious by now. I had originally intended to move it to a new, faster server, plus upgrade to the new MT version at the same time, but when I got stuff set up there, I realized that the new server only allows one database. Supposedly for technical reasons. One! So, I’m not going to be using that server for this domain after all. Unfortunately, I happened to go on vacation for a week in the middle of everything, which was probably not a good idea. Well, the going on vacation was a good idea, it’s the not-completing-a-project-before-vacation thing that was a bad idea. Anyway, now I’ve got a brand spankin’ new installation of the latest version of MT here. The pretty style isn’t uploaded yet, but at least the content is. Welcome back.
